Different kinds of paper

Well, it was a busy week without any time to blog.  I was sick, we went out of town (again) and watched from a distance as our youngest daughter made her way to Europe amidst delays.  So all that paper she left us for flights, connections, hotels was all for naught.  She did make it, had a blast in Stockholm and is now in Dublin before traveling on to London.  Maybe tomorrow, there will be some time for pictures and a new blog post.  I've been doing lots of embroidery.

May UFO's

I've been busy this month finishing small projects.  I already showed you several of the embroidery projects.  I also finished a small embroidery tote -- the embroidery and sewing parts!  Here is the pattern picture.

I just LOVE Rosalie Quinlan and have a few more of her patterns to get started.  She is from Australia and is very popular here right now.  Here is my rendition.

The Back

The Front

The absolutely, positively fabulous lining.  I just LOVE this fabric to pieces.  I found it while in Salt Lake at the always wonderful quilt shop, Quilts, Etc.  It's so vintage, just my style.  I'm still working on the needle case and should be able to show it off soon!  I can't wait to get a project prepped to put in my new bag.

Mother's Day gift

My mom has told me about this pattern for a long time.  She sees the made up sample in one of our favorite quilt shops when she's out and about.  The shop is Quiltique.  Well, I finally bought the pattern and some fabric to make it for Mother's Day.  Here's the pattern.

Here's the finished project.

And the inside with the slick magnetic snap.  They give you really cool directions for inserting this, a little tricky but smooth in the end!

Then my sister wanted a little wallet made to slip some travel money into and I threw this together.

All in a day's sewing!

YoYo Pillow

This is a beautiful pillow my mom made for me.  It's been in my living room the past few years.  Now the neutral colors are moving into my new sitting room and my colorful pillows are finding new homes.  But this pillow will have a new resting spot in our bedroom.  The red and white is so fun and cheery.

Off to see the Wizard!

The Wizard of Oz is a favorite of mine.  My office had this theme a few years ago at work.
This is a Dorothy "goddess" doll I made a few years ago in a class.

This was really fun to make and I think she is lovely.  Here she is with the ToTo embroidery picture.

And here is a picture of my fun bulletin board in my craft room.

One of my favorite quotes is up above.  It's fabulous is red glitter.
And I truly believe in this quote, there's no place like home!

Finished Embroidery Projects

While on that trip to Zion, I finished many UFO embroidery projects.  I've been carrying them around for more than a year it seems.  I prepped a new project and made myself a promise to finish these before starting the stitching on the new project (which is close to done).  Here they are!

I added the name and birthdate to this.  I have finished 5 of these in the past month.  There are lots of new babies in my world.  The new moms tell me how special these gifts are.  I just LOVE making them.

I made this with my daughters in mind -- I actually made two of them.  There are lots of french knots on that tiara.  The metallic thread is NOT fun to use, let alone just thread the needle.  Here are the two of them.

The pattern showed these made into small pillows.  I'm not sure I'll do that or find a pretty
little glittery frame for them.

This last project has been in the works for at least a couple of years.
I really love the Wizard of Oz and have another post in the works for this love of mine.  Soon I'll be able to post the project that started this embroidery trend of mine this spring.

Have a Joyful Heart

This is a little embroidered picture my mom made me.  I just love it!  I love the quotation.  This is one the windowsill in my craft room.  I love to see it there.  I try to focus on it during my day.  It makes me happy to see this and reminds me to have a joyful heart!
